Getting personal

Hi I am Ben Hemp, I am 40 something... and I live in Peterborough with my partner Sara. I have always had an active interest in all things geeky. I also like camping, and just love to find ways of combining geeky gadgets with camping. From an early age I have been fascinated by how things work, from the Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle I received as a child, to the more complicated computer related technology of today. I am a complete coffee-oholic, and I love Lamb Saag Masala. Many years ago I got my first computer from a guy at work for 50 quid, what a mess it was in. I was a bit skint with a computer that didn’t work, so I set about educating myself to sort it out.

After countless mugs of coffee... Starting with this one computer I developed a keen interest in how they work and why they don't. Having nursed the poor little e-Machines computer back from almost certain death, my family and friends had noticed the positive developments and started pushing their equally poorly PC’s my way. Through word of mouth a business grew and File Genie was born.

Since those early days countless computers, countless late nights and countless mugs of coffee have given me the professional experience and insight to care for your PC however poorly it is. Bringing you the home user, services like an IT department in your own living room; I’m experienced in all makes of PC’s and laptops from Microsoft Windows 3.1 right up to Windows 7 and 8.

Knowledge base

Having done all the usual courses and qualifications, and quickly coming to realise that often real problems are just not covered in text books, I have had to find real solutions. Much of this I have found from hands on experience. I have of course found the internet and talking with other specialists (or geeks) to be invaluable.
